AP US Government
Unit 2 – Branches of Government
Topic 2.11
How could American governance change if states were given greater power to overturn Supreme Court decisions?
This could lead to increased state autonomy at cost of national cohesion as different states interpret federal laws differently.
There will be no significant change since most state laws already align with Supreme Court rulings.
It may strengthen unity among states by allowing each to govern as they see fit.
Federalism may weaken as states act independently from federal mandates or rulings.
