Coding strand

from class:

Organic Chemistry

Definition

The coding strand is one of the two strands of DNA involved in transcription, specifically the one that has the same sequence as the resulting mRNA, except it contains thymine instead of uracil. Unlike its counterpart, the template strand, it does not serve as a direct template for RNA synthesis but its sequence matches the RNA's sequence.

congrats on reading the definition of Coding strand. now let's actually learn it.
