Social Gradient in Health: The phenomenon where health outcomes systematically vary with social position, such that those who are more socially advantaged generally experience better health than those who are less advantaged.
Structural Competence: The ability of healthcare providers to recognize and respond to the ways in which social, economic, and political conditions shape patterns of health and disease, as opposed to just focusing on individual behaviors and risk factors.
