The Tet Offensive was a major military campaign during the Vietnam War, launched by North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces in January 1968. It marked a significant turning point in the conflict, as it aimed to incite widespread uprisings among the South Vietnamese population and demonstrate the strength of communist forces despite U.S. claims of progress in the war. This surprise attack during the Vietnamese New Year (Tet) holiday resulted in heavy casualties and shifted public perception of the war in the United States.
