Definition

Types of motivation refer to different psychological forces that drive and direct behavior. These can include intrinsic motivation (the desire to engage in an activity for its own sake), extrinsic motivation (the desire to engage in an activity for external rewards or to avoid punishment), and biological motives (innate drives such as hunger, thirst, and sex).
