Definition

SSRIs, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, are a type of antidepressant medication that work by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that plays a key role in regulating mood, and low levels of serotonin have been linked to depression.
