from class:

AP Psychology

Definition

The rate of neural impulses refers to the number of action potentials or electrical signals sent by neurons in a given timeframe. In the context of pitch perception, it is the assumption that the frequency (pitch) of a sound is determined solely by the rate at which auditory neurons fire.
