Definition

The pelvis is a bowl-shaped structure composed of the hip bones (ilium, ischium, and pubis), sacrum, and coccyx that supports the spinal column and guards the pelvic organs. It connects the trunk and legs, providing attachment for muscles that move the lower limbs.
